For the past ten years, I have been involved with the marketing and graphic designs industries in one form or another. My experience began when I accepted a position as a contract negotiator for a small children’s book publishing company after completing my first bachelor’s degree in sociology. This position afforded me several opportunities to provide my insight into the design and advertising process, and I had the honor of conceptualizing and promoting a children’s book written by the wife of the City of Portsmouth’s City Manager and to design collateral for two local political campaigns. Since that time, I have broadened my skills and design style by accepting contract work that challenged my problem solving skills. Also, I returned to school to receive more formal instruction providing a second bachelor’s degree in graphic design. After graduation, I accepted a position with a software development company, which enhanced my copy writing, web development, and social media skills for this start-up corporation.
